Last week I mentioned that I was going to be focusing more on my Fall Barn Raising Quilt – I finished the Third Tier this week and laid everything out on the back stoop to get a photo. I love that you’re starting to be able to see the diagonal, and I love how painterly the Socks that Rock looks.
You can see that there are five Four Blocks that aren’t bound off around and blocked (and there’s one seam in the lower-left four block that hasn’t been Kitchenered in this photo, but it is now) but I decided that was just creating unnecessary work for myself. Kitchenering takes enough time, I don’t want to have to unpick all the bind offs too.
Here’s my progress – it looks like I’m 3/5 of the way there, but after I get all of the Four Blocks connected I’m going to have to connect them, and then I’ll have to connect four Sixteen Blocks with the two leftover Four Blocks. Then I’m going to pick up stitches all the way around and work a garter stitch border using two skeins of Lightweight Spruced I’ve been saving for just such an occasion.
I don’t know why it is, but I really love making blankets. I’m so glad I’ve had a little time to work on this recently.
